Msheireb Downtown, Doha, Qatar

Msheireb downtown is Qatar’s largest mixed use regeneration project, covering a 31 hectare site, right in the heart of Doha- reviving the old commercial district, offering offices, retail, leisure, residential and cultural venues. AEB, Arup, and Ateilier 10 were appointed as consultants by the client Msheireb properties. The contracting works were taken care by Al Futtaim Engineering, Conspel, and ETA

This huge mixed-use project posed many challenges, requiring assistance from Polypipe experts.

Polypipe’s drainage system, Terrain and pressure pipe system, Effast were selected as a complete gravity and pressure drainage system for the heritage quarter offering a robust and durable technical solution to meet the projects complex demands. The Terrain solvent weld systems offered an easy way to achieve a permanent joint, reducing the risk of leakage and importantly allowing controlled thermal movement control. The unrivalled range of pressure pipe products and fittings is exclusive to the Effast brand that made it an easy choice for the consultants.

Polyplumb was the preferred choice for hot and cold-water distribution pipe work for some of the high-rise, residential and hotel schemes due to its speed of installation, simplicity, and reliability. Polyplumb offered the contractor both a material and labour cost reduction when compared to traditional systems.

The StormX4 specialist storm water filtration units were specified to meet with the highest sustainability criteria set out within LEED standards. The units were prefabricated in their own special chambers and supplied directly to site, which gave the contractor a plug and play solution.
