Polystorm Range
The Polystorm range of geocellular water management systems is suitable for use beneath both trafficked and non-trafficked surfaces for surface water
Polypipe provides a reliable and sustainable soakaway solution for the Layan residential development by utilising their Polystorm modular geocellular solution
When the traditional aggregate soakaways and tanks at properties in the Layan Community, Dubai, became blocked during heavy storms in March 2016, pumps and tankers were needed to manually extract the flood water and residents were advised to stay in their homes.
In order to ensure the safety of its residents, and to reduce the impact of any similar future flood event, the real estate developer, Dubai Properties, sought an alternative, effective and more reliable flood mitigation solution that would also reduce maintenance and the risk of similar blockages in the future.
Regional regulations stipulated that aggregate was to be avoided and a sustainable solution with a long design life was the design scope advise by the client (Dubai Properties).
Dubai Properties selected Polypipe’s efficient Polystorm system. Manufactured locally from virgin polypropylene to ensure guaranteed performance in the Middle East environment, and approved by the Dubai Municipality, Polystorm offered a reliable, quick and easy solution, with low installation costs.
Designed for use in lightly trafficked and loaded applications, Polystorm modular geocelluar solution provided structural tanks that are suitable for use at a range of depths, and beneath a variety of landscaped loads – with a load bearing capacity of 40 tonnes/m². Hard-wearing, lightweight and providing a 95% void ratio for maximum water capture and retention, Polystorm met the exacting environmental and health and safety requirements. Together with expert technical after-sales support from the Polypipe technical team, Polystorm offered Dubai Properties the ideal soakaway solution.
Polypipe went the extra mile by providing financial assistance through payment term options. Providing technical support to carefully guide the development due to retaining walls in close proximity, the excavation works and tanks installations were carefully monitored to avoid potential issues.
