Taming stormwater that could overwhelm the drainage system
One result of rapid urbanisation is the increase in large areas of impervious hard landscape, leading to far greater quantities of surface water run-off during storms.
Detention is the Sustainable urban Drainage Systems (SuDS) technique of holding that water at the site, so it can be either re-used or discharged to the drains at a controlled flowrate that the existing infrastructure is able to handle.
Polypipe's innovative detention stormwater management systems include the Polystorm and Permavoid ranges. Both use modular cells protected by non-permeable geotextiles, with plastic pipe components, providing superior performance to traditional legacy materials.
